Alabama's fight song is called "Yea Alabama"
Sep 25th, 2009 at 13:54 GMT
The name of the song is actually "Anchors Aweigh." Nice idea for a quiz.
Sep 28th, 2009 at 02:27 GMT
a) I suggested back on Facebook, so thanks for making it happen b) Fight/Spirit songs might be more accurate. I know, for example, Tennessee folks will tell you that Rocky Top is not their fight song, despite how inseparable they are from it.

good one. ucla bruines? prolly just a typo
Oct 23rd, 2009 at 16:23 GMT
Awesome game. Big thumbs up for including Ramblin' Wreck, my personal favorite. I'd probably drop the time to two or three minutes though.
Oct 26th, 2009 at 21:02 GMT
Good quiz. A little too SEC heavy for my liking. Also, where's Texas Fight? Maybe too easy of a clue.
Nov 16th, 2009 at 20:19 GMT
I was about to say, it's "Yea Alabama", then I saw the comment was made. Roll Tide. Oh, and nothing wrong with the SEC, aka the best conference.
Nov 17th, 2009 at 14:46 GMT
"step to the rear" (South Carolina) would be a good one, so would "Dynamite" (Vanderbilt). Alabama's fight song is Yea Alabama, but I can see how that would kinda give it away. Good quiz overall though, but i think it would be better with more obscure ones, and more in general.
Nov 27th, 2009 at 02:13 GMT
You need to include "Victory March" for Notre Dame...one of the most famous fight songs.
Dec 8th, 2009 at 01:26 GMT
got em all. i felt like an idiot that the last one i got was penn state but then i realized that its the third most missed so i feel better about myself.

By my count, just entering the names of each state will get you a good handful, and anyone who knows college sports knows what suffixes to try for a few extras. The only "tricky" ones would, in theory, be the ones identified mainly by acronyms, or private schools (the Tiger Rag being the only one I missed... ah well)
Jan 14th, 2010 at 00:16 GMT
Should have put Big C on there instead. Sons of Westwood is just an adaptation of the Cal fight song.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 00:17 GMT
Maybe a little nitpicky, but Michigan's fight song is actually titled "The Victors." Great quiz!
Jan 14th, 2010 at 00:31 GMT
Too much time, IMO.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 00:40 GMT
surprised Georgia Tech was only 50%. Seemed like one of the most obvious.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 01:12 GMT
Anyone else think Tiger Rag was LSU?
Jan 14th, 2010 at 01:15 GMT
If we're getting technical, Notre Dame's is "The Notre Dame Victory March," but obviously you can't put that in. So I guess leave it as is. Pointless comment FTW!
Jan 14th, 2010 at 01:25 GMT
As someone from Boston who couldn't care less about college football, this quiz was waaaay too easy. Put in some well known, but non BCS songs. You know, something from when college football was great before it was taken over by big money.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 01:44 GMT
tried at least 100 versions of Texas A & M, wouldn't accept any of them.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 03:25 GMT
I don't care about sports at all, so I think 8 is really good being I just constantly guessed! I was wondering how I got "Tennessee," when I hadn't guessed it! Then I figured it out that I typed "Utah," quickly enough to not register as something else, but when I deleted the H, I paused to talk and it took UTA!
Jan 14th, 2010 at 03:26 GMT
@journey2688 Yes, I tried versions of LSU more than once. I live in Lake Charles, LA - across the state from Baton Rouge.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 03:51 GMT
I missed the school I graduated from, where I currently work, and thought I was a huge football fan of... d'oh!
Jan 14th, 2010 at 04:19 GMT
It didn't accept Georgia Tech for me, but it accepted GT.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 07:01 GMT
"Rocky Top" is not the fight song of the University of Tennessee. Tennessee's fight song, borrowed from Yale, is "Down the Field", although their band certainly plays "Rocky Top" often. http://www.utk.edu/athletics/tn_songs.shtml
Jan 14th, 2010 at 13:33 GMT
I thought the Ohio State song was called Buckeye Battlcry. No?
Jan 14th, 2010 at 13:58 GMT
@ RootingForMeteor: A friend of mine (who grew up a fan of the Ohio State) said that Ohio State has different fight song for every team in the Big Ten, or a different version of their fight song or something like that. Maybe "Across the Field" is one of them and "Buckeye Battlecry" is another.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 15:38 GMT
No "Wild Blue Yonder?" Shame.

No rootingformeteor. The fight song is Across The Field. And shouldn't the correct answer be The Ohio State University? At least that's what all the players say they are from on NFL games. Just a thought
Jan 14th, 2010 at 15:52 GMT
Murray State University's "The Old Gray Mare" would have been a fun one...
Jan 14th, 2010 at 16:19 GMT
Technically, it's The Ohio State University, but I think for the purposes of this game it's fine the way it is. Also, technically, the fight song is titled "Fight the Team Across the Field" but it's been commonly shortened to either "Fight the Team" or "Across the Field." Buckeye Battle Cry is the song the band plays when they come onto the field to perform Script Ohio. I'm not sure who came up with there being different fight songs for individual Big 10 teams, that's just not true.
Jan 14th, 2010 at 20:30 GMT
No "On Wisconsin"?
Jan 14th, 2010 at 21:31 GMT
Am I the only one who saw "Rocky Top" and assumed it must be a school in Colorado?
Jan 14th, 2010 at 22:07 GMT
Not a Tennessee fan but "Rocky Top" is my favourite fight song. Great tune!
Jan 14th, 2010 at 22:25 GMT
should be a forced answer quiz, theres enough time to just guess a bunch of BCS schools and hope you get lucky
Jan 15th, 2010 at 18:34 GMT
From my years as a sportswriter, I can say with confidence that "On Wisconsin" is probably one of the three most copied fight songs in the nation (along with The Victors and The Notre Dame Victory March. Kinda surprised not to see it on there.
Jan 16th, 2010 at 00:46 GMT
What about "Hang on Sloopy" as a bonus answer? Great quiz, I'm glad the Buckeyes were included

A little surprised 30% of the people missed "Orange and Blue", seems pretty obvious lol.
Jan 19th, 2010 at 20:02 GMT
Alot of SEC representation.
May 29th, 2010 at 02:38 GMT
Orange and Blue could be Illinois or Virginia.
Jun 13th, 2010 at 16:42 GMT
I missed the two that had colors. I couldn't think of Florida for some reason. Some of these were too easy. Aggies always makes me think A&M. Anyone who follows football knows Rocky Top, Rambling Wreck, Boomer Sooner, and the Victors.
