Willis is disgustingly good, what are you talking about? Agree with Thomas though, Faneca, Saturday, Mangold, and Hutchinson all should be above him. Not so sure Lechler should be on here instead of people like Wes Welker, Frank Gore, etc

@godpaul28: I'm a huge Jets fan, but Thomas really is that good. He should absolutely be ranked above Faneca and Mangold, at the very least.

People like McNabb, Trent Cole, Terrell Suggs, Chad Ochocinco, Welker, Gore, etc should be above Lechler simply because he is a punter and has less of an impact on games.

impact aside its based on talent, and these guys are the most talented. not counting ben rapistberger and james harrison. theyre overrated. btw peppers is now on the bears. and WTF jared allen is easily top 10 all time, howd he not even make top 10 active!?!?

polamalu, reed, harrison, & saturday are too high. faneca, bailey, rogers, urlacher, and lechler shouldn't be on this list (based on 2009 form). fitzgerald is ridiculously low. haloti ngata, calvin johnson, and jake long should make this list.

Hooby you make yourself sound like an idiot with that comment. however, i could not agree more with PerryAhn's statement. the fact that a guy who missed the entire season in Urlacher makes the list is ridiculous and Polamalu was plagued by injuries as well last year.

gmen, I think this quiz is who are the best players in the league, not who had the best year last year. You seem confused.

No punters should make any list of 50 best football players. I definitely think that Joe Thomas should be as high as he is. I am shocked that Ngata and Mario Williams aren't on this list, or Roddy White and Vincent Jackson (though WRs are always overrated).

Any kind of sports quiz with this type is never really good, because even with a source it's still just opinion. It's just not the quiz creator's opinion. Some sports writers make a living making dumb predictions and stating inaccurate facts.
Having ^ and * for offensive/defensive players is redundant because you're already telling us the position they play in the description.

Also, I have only one problem with the list; I think that Rodgers is better than Rivers. Rivers is too inconsistent and can't win in the playoffs.

Yes, because that loss was totally Rodgers fault. I mean he only threw for 423 yards, 4 touchdowns, 10 yds per ATTEMPT(15.1 per completion) and a 121 passer rating. He should have done a much better job rushing the passer. I mean he never touched Warner. Rivers, on the other hand, has had 2 really good games, 1 mediocre game and 4 pretty bad games

Rodgers should be way higher. I totally agree with alpha and mybeaglebell. Come on! It's the quarterback's fault if his team loses and he throws for over three touchdowns and 400 yards. Rodgers didn't win anything because of the defense. That is purely the reason. He should be up with Freeney. Also all you who think punters have no impact on the game are wrong. Lechler is a great player and deserves to make this list. Punters do a lot to actually help their team and Lechler is the best there is. Hampton, Clady, and Thomas don't deserve this list. Witten and Sharper should be much, much higher. Fitzgerald should be higher and Willis should be lower. Charles Woodson should be right above Revis considering he beat Revis in the race for defensive MVP. Saturday shouldn't be that high and Favre should be higher. How in the world of heck did Urlacher get below Beason? Also, Adrian Wilson shouldn't be that high. And I know everyone is going to disagree with me for saying this but Peyton Manning is the most overrated player in the NFL. He deserves to be somewhere like 5 or 6. But Brady should be above him simply because of the facts of stats considering that Brady is younger than Manning and Super Bowl Rings. Brady is a great motivational leader. And What Else? Oh yeah, this list is TERRIBLE!

Steve Smith, though he's had a couple down years because of Delhomme, is without a doubt the most athletic receiver in the game after Fitzgerald. Having said that, its a shame neither he or Andre Johnson made this list. Lechler? Come on.

Well....when you play on a ****ty team like Oakland you get plenty of practice as a punter. It's the only position in all of sports where you get rewarded because your team sucks. Have you ever heard of the Saint's, Colt's or Patriot's punter? Yeah, me neither.
BTW, I mean that with the utmost respect to Raider fans here. I have zero room to talk, considering that at one point last season the punter on my team had more rushing TDs than the starting running back, and threw a better deep ball than the starting quarterback.

its debatable if lechler should be on this list. for one thing, i don't know if punters should be on the list at all, plus the best punter in the league is Brian Moorman

The best PUNTER is Mike Scifres. The strongest leg is Lechler. Scifres has the best combination of leg and the ability to pin the ball inside the 10 yard line. Also, if you were picking a team on NFL Street as of this year and you needed a running back and a middle line backer, who would you choose if both Ray Rice and Brian Urlacher were available? Rate UP for Rice and DOWN for Urlacher.

Fist of all, I would like to agree with TheFoxMan. It is really sad that Andre Johnson didn't make this after being one of the best players in the game. and to Emperor and Eagle THE BEST PUNTER IS SHANE LECHLER. I don't care how you look at it, poll people look at statistics but Lechler deserves this list unlike players such as Beason and the others I mentioned in my previous comment. I also agree with Jim white stripes. It's amazing that they ranked Willis above League MVP and Super Bowl winning quarterback Brett Favre. I must say to some of the other commentors on this list such as CMart and Phdstudent and all you people out there who don't think punters are important enough to make this list need to re-think the NFL. I would encourage all of you to become NFL head coaches and play a game without a sufficient punter. Every position on a team is relevant and deserves recognition.

Hey all I was saying is that beagle said she thought Rodgers should be ahead of Rivers because Rivers can't win in the playoffs. Rivers has actually won a playoff game, Rodgers hasn't. There are other arguments of why Rodgers should be higher, but that isn't one of them. After the big 3 QBs it's definitely Rodgers and Rivers (i'd have them tied for 4th). And if you want to be technical, Rodgers was the last Packer to touch the ball in that game, and the defense was on the sideline, so yeah I guess he did lose that game
Packfan

Yeah of course. They went into overtime. It might have helped if earlier in the game the defense had maybe made some stops. Then the game wouldn't have even gone into overtime. By the way you mentioned that he was the last Packer to touch the ball. On that last play Dansby came up the middle and yanked on Rodgers' facemask forcing the fumble. But the refs were too involved in seeing the fumble and who was about to win than watching for blatant penalties.
