So, after a couple late nights of drawing diagrams and typing little codes, here it is. I basically wanted to see if this type of quiz could be done, and here is the result. Enjoy.
For the sake of my sanity, I made use of the board's symmetry on the first turn, so a first move in a corner ends up in spot 1 and a first move on a side ends up in spot 4. This just amounts to rotating the board, yet it cuts down the amount of work I need to do by about two-thirds. All remaining moves will go in the exact spot you pick.
Be sure to follow the instructions. You need to type each 3-character code twice, once to see Sporcle's response and once to reveal the new code. (If Sporcle would allow one answer to get multiple clues wrong at once, typing each code twice would no longer be necessary. This would also allow for some additional types of quizzes such as an actual mini-minefields quiz as well an “8-queens problem”-type quiz, my initial idea which ultimately led to this quiz.)
The goal of this quiz, of course, is to win the tic-tac-toe game, not to get the most answers (as is the case with most Sporcle quizzes). I deliberately made the AI imperfect (albeit mostly perfect) in order to make it possible to win the game. |
