| Ugh. Must we have the soccer/football debate erroneously over and over again? The term "soccer" is an abbreviation of "association football" (originally "socia" since you can't very well use the beginning of the word 'association' as an abbreviation). It originated in England by an English footballer (Wreford-Brown). Further, the term 'soccer' is also popularly used in Canada and regionally used in South Africa and other countries that have different uses for the word 'football'. This concept that 'soccer' is an American word is just pure bunk. Also, nice quiz, Banjo Zebra! |
