@dxman: I'm not really sure what you mean by record holders. These were just 40 artists that I pretty much selected at random. I tried to limit the artists to those who hadn't had any serious impact in the Top 40 in the past 10 years. (Obviously, a couple of artists are in there but some others, like Bon Jovi and Mariah Carey, have managed a couple of surprising Top 40 hits in the past couple of years, then followed up with songs that didn't come close.)
But, as far as any type of "chart record" is concerned, I really wasn't thinking of any and I don't really see what records are there. The only really crucial thing was that, for most of these acts, they scored 10 or more Top 40 hits in their careers (off the top of my head, there's only one act that scored fewer than 5 hits. I also wanted to pick some acts whose first and/or last hits might not be quite as well-remembered. |
