Quiz should specify that these are non-landlocked states b/c otherwise there are a few dozen other correct answers.

It's hard to tell, because Rhode Island's shoreline, like Maryland's, is quite long, so I suppose it's the seacoast. And I don't know where Pennsylvania ranks.

you're right shakescene, it is seacoast. i've specified that in the quiz now. bsd987, i thought that was just kind of self-explanatory, but if anyone else thinks the same thing i can change it. thanks for the feedback guys!

Great idea, but it's still a little confusing - Iowa, for example, has

@bsd987 - I think it should be easy to figure out that none of these answers are landlocked states because none of them have a coastline of zero miles.

mrpete is right. Anyone saying otherwise is being difficult for the sake of being difficult.

@btroup1: not necessarily, as coastline can be used to refer to lake coastline. In fact, the state of Minnesota has more miles of coastline than all other states combined when lakes are accounted for.

Don't Specify that these are non-landlocked states, if someone can turn on a computer they should know what you mean. Good Quiz

@John, that's why i specified that it's "seacoasts"

I think the time should be shorter; I guessed for a good 30 seconds and still finished with 50 to spare.

Good quiz. I definitely thought Georgia's coast was longer than 100 miles. Interesting.

Got them all with 1:27 left. Good idea for a quiz.

Seacoasts is a good clue. Time was perfect - please don't shorten the time. Some of us can't type all that fast! Good quiz.

Pennsylvania has been omitted. It has a coastline of 57 miles.

shouldn't Virginia be on here somewhere if you're not counting the chesapeake bay?

@zeppelinoid, Pennsylvania's only coatsline is on Lake Erie and as we have already discussed this is only dealing with seacoasts. @apollo846, according to the source I cited Virginia has 112 miles of coastline.

@BamaGuy: Pennsylvania has 57 miles of sea coast on the Delaware estuary and a further 52 miles of lake coast on Lake Erie. It has incorrectly been omitted from the quiz.

@Zeppelinoid - Neither the Delaware Bay NOR Lake Erie are a "sea", thus no "SEA coast". What part of this don't you get?
ParrotRob

@apollo846 - Virginia has close to 40 miles of coast from the NC border to Cape Henry, and a very long (80+ mile) peninsula hanging off of Maryland from Assateague Island down to Adams Island below Cape Charles.

@ParrotRob: I was not claiming that Lake Erie is part of the sea, that was Bamaguy's erroneous assumption. I am claiming that Delaware Bay is part of the sea. Tidal estuary = sea coast. What part of this do you not get?

@zeppelinoid - You're right, Delaware Bay is part of the sea - however Pennsylvania does not have any coastline on Delaware Bay. The tidal part of the Delaware RIVER yes, but not Delaware Bay.

@ParrotRob: The problem that you have is that geographically the cost is defined by tidal waters. There is no way of defining "sea coast". Where does it start and where does it stop? If you follow this link you will note that the Pennsylvania state authorities consider that it was 57 miles of coast line: http://www.dep.state.pa.us/river/about/Docs/PACRMFactSheet.pdf
