Could've sworn Villanova was #1 during 05-06 season and Oklahoma was #1 at some point last season, but I may be wrong. Good quiz though.

Duke and Wake Forest were both #1 in 2009 for a short period

@bullfan: Many of these teams had multiple stints at #1. The date given is that of the first.

Excellent idea for a quiz. That one week Wisconsin was #1 brings back great memories of what turned out to be quite a disappointing season.

Syracuse was #1 in the final AP poll following their national championship the 2002-03 season

@syracuse: unlike in football, the AP doesn't release anymore polls after the tournament starts. this is maily due to the fact that contrary to football, the polls in basketball don't actually count for anything. they're mainly used to help determine who gets invited to the tourney. @GPB: while their wins are forfeited i believe they are still technically on record as having been #1 in the poll those weeks. like i said, since the polls don't mean anything there's no real point in going back and changing them in retrospect. thanks for the comments guys! keep them coming!

great quiz. just curious, was there a reason you chose to start at 11/25/03?

@swimtroll08: yes, if you read the note at the top of the quiz you'll see that the poll before that (the final one of the 02-03 season) was the last time before yesterday that Kentucky was ranked #1. basically this is the "name the teams that were ranked #1 between the last time UK was ranked #1 and this time" quiz

The NCAA ruled that Memphis must vacate its 38 wins and NCAA Tournament Runner-Up title that season because Derrick Rose, their star player, had another kid take his SAT for him. The ruling said nothing about its #1 ranking in the polls.

Looks like this quiz is out of date already! On the bright side for the Wildcats, that's one less win they'll have to vacate later.

Hell yes Wisconsin. I was at the #1 Wisconsin vs. #2 Ohio State game that year. Also, that same academic year had, in football, #1 OSU vs. #2 Texas, #1 OSU vs. #2 Michigan, and #1 OSU vs. #2 Florida.
