	Already a relic. You can tell when it was chosen by a few of the choices. No way in hell does McGwire get on this list now (and not just for the steroid thing - he just wasn't very good, a poor hitter and couldn't play defense), Junior Griffey faded, and so on. Also, Maddux would now replace Clemens, or at least be included alongside him. Bonds would probably replace Griffey, ARod would get in. There'd be a problem at catcher because Piazza put up some gaudy numbers in the offense happy era. Couldn't field for **** tho. I also think the Nolan Ryan legend has faded a bit as the number crunchers have come more into prominence. Nolan was a freak and some of his stats are incredible - but for all his dominance and durability, he sure didn't win much, relative to how many he lost. Randy Johnson now seems much more impressive to me than Ryan, of similar style pitchers.

	Barzuniac...I respect your opinion but keep in mind that regardless of his W-L record (and he played many years for some sub-par teams) Nolan Ryan is the most feared pitcher of the past 45 years and I believe that he still ranks 1st (maybe 2nd) in opponents batting average (career all-time). Plus, if he had played just 10 of his 27 seasons for a winning ball club he would have EASILY surpassed 400 wins. I'm no expert, just a fan, but I guarantee that the sluggers of the early/mid 1900's would fear Ryan more than ANY other pitcher of the era.

	When Nolan Ryan did not get a decision, his teams had a W% of .491. Obviously that's below average, but it's not as if he is some singularly hard luck pitcher. Three 300 game winners pitched for worse teams: Walter Johnson (.460), Phil Niekro (.470), and Tom Seaver (.484), and all had better W%s than Ryan. Randy Johnson's teams through 2008 had a similar record (.491), and yet Johnson has one of the best W%s of all-time. There's no shame in being, say, the 20th best pitcher in baseball history rather than one of the top ten.

	There are numerous pitchers I would put here over Ryan. Seaver, Alexander, Feller, Maddux, etc.

	@kjibopp: I would agree with a few of your changes, like Foxx over Mcgwire, but hold the phone with Ozzie over Ripken. Almost 500 HR and 3,000+ hits for a guy who didn't get a day off for almost 20 SEASONS. You can't make this team for glove work alone. I've never been impressed by Ryan either but when a guy gets almost 6k strikeouts, it's hard to leave him off. Mel Ott or Frank Robinson over Pete Rose? Pete Rose? All time leader in hits, AB's, and games? Mel Ott was a good player, but just over 500 homers and nothing else truly special. Always gotta give props to a guy like Frank who had to switch leagues and hit new pitching halfway through his career, not to mention the added pressure of being a black player in the 1950's and 1960's. Almost 600 Hrs, barely missed the 3,000 hits mark (2,973). There is definitely a case to make there, but not over Pete Rose.
