	Yes, usually, because of its cultural and economic ties. It is however geographically in Asia.

	I like your choice of 'Israel (and the West Bank)' for the stated answer to Judea, but since you have mentioned 'territory' specifically in the quiz title, I think you should also accept Palestine, Palestinian territories, Occupied Palestinian territories or something on those lines in addition to West Bank. NOT making a political statement, just offering thoughts for the quiz (I myself typed Israel the first time based on Sporcle convention, and then just tried the others out of curiosity). Great quiz, though. 5 globes.

	Kampuchea is not the "former" name of Cambodia, it is the name of the country in Khmer (Cambodian). At least one other is similarly ambiguous: Kashmir is not a former name of anything, it is the present-day name of a region that includes areas governed by China, India and Pakistan, though in the past it did refer to a smaller region than it does today. But by no definition is it a former name of India, China or Pakistan, which is what this quiz claims to be asking for.

	@Blowfish_Hootie: This is as listed in my source, so I really did not make this up. However, Kampuchea was the official former name of Cambodia, when it officially changed its name (in English at least) to Cambodia. Kashmir was also the name of that former region like you stated, and that region was absorbed into Pakistan, India, and China (like stated in my source). Thanks for your comment, I should have made this more clear. (I know these are not strictly 'former names of that one specific country/countries' but I am using this (and all my other games) to study for the National Geographic Bee. )

	@Ashgabat: A very interesting and well researched quiz. I would add the following comments: Turkey was called Turkey before the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire (which technically was the area which was outside modern Turkey). There were never countries called East and West Pakistan only Pakistan. Straights Settlements also included Christmas Island and the Cocos Islands which are now Australian territories. The area you have described as "North Yemen" was never called this. It was called Yemen or the Yemen Arab Republic (and it was not actually north but west of "South Yemen" which was actually called the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen).

	@Zeppelinoid: Thanks for all of your feedback! I didn't know about the Straits Settlements, but as this is an Asian game, I think it will be fine. As for Turkey, but it was a part of the Ottoman Empire before its collapse, and is its modern day remnant. West Pakistan is present day Pakistan, while East Pakistan is now known as Bangladesh. I know North Yemen was actually called the Yemen Arab Republic, but its more common name was North Yemen (because it was generally 'north' of South Yemen).

	@Ashgabat: I am old enough to remember when "South Yemen" became fully independent from the UK in 1967. Until then it was usually referred to as Aden or less commonly the Federation and/or Protectorate of South Arabia which is where the "south" reference probably comes from. In 1967 the country became independent as the "People's Republic of South Yemen" but this name was changed to the "People's Democratic Republic of Yemen" in 1970 and this name was retained until unification with the "Yemen Arab Republic" in 1990. I have looked at my collection of atlases from this era and although some of them referred to "Southern" or "South" Yemen; the Yemen Arab Republic" was always referred to simply as Yemen. It would have been illogical to have referred to it as "North Yemen" as its neighbour extended far further north (as well as slightly further south).

	@Ashgabat: Regarding Turkey/the Ottoman Empire, I have commented on a number of other quizzes where the two terms have become confused. The area now known as Turkey (Türkiye in Turkish) has been referred to as such for many hundreds of years in both Turkey itself and in the rest of the world. The earliest European references to the term date back to the Battle of Manzikert in 1071 and refer to Turkish Anatolya but the Turks used the term from at least as early as the 8th Century. Turkey acquired a substantial empire and after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 this was officially given the epithet of the Sublime Ottoman State (Devlet-i Aliye-i-Osmaniyye in Turkish). However, this included Turkey as well as is possessions. The core country continued to be referred to as Turkey. An suitable anology would be the British Empire. The United Kingdom was part of the British Empire but was still correctly referred to as the United Kingdom.

	@zeppelinoid: Being nowhere near that old, I'll take your word for Yemen :). However, through my studies of geography, and according the source I used, there used to be a 'North Yemen' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Yemen), in a sense. Also, I've never quite agreed with the whole 'Ottoman Empire became Turkey' thing because the Ottoman Empire included a much greater area which was then separated into Turkey and various European mandates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partitioning_of_the_Ottoman_Empire). I'm just not quite sure when the state of Turkey (which I do know existed beforehand) became the Ottoman Empire... Your comments do explain that. Thanks!
