| Not a whole lot of playoff teams on this list. Without looking up every single one, these are the ones that I could find: 93 Lions, 96 Vikings, 99 Dolphins, 2000 and 03 Ravens, 05 Bears, 09 Jets. There are probably 1 or 2 that I missed, but that should be most of them. The last 4 unsurprisingly all had great defenses. The 99 Dolphins is a weird one as they were not a great defense and got better play from their backup qb than from their HOF starter. The 93 Lions is definitely the strangest one, as they were 16th on offense, 15th on defense, got mediocre play from 3 different quarterbacks, and had Barry Sanders miss 5 games, yet still went 10-6 and won the division. Two years later they had a similar defense, a 4000 yard passer, two 100 catch/1400 yard receivers, and a healthy Sanders rush for 1500 yards...and they won the same 10 games as in 1993. |
