If anyone knows of a better source, let me know. This is the only one I could find that wasn't wikipedia.

Sorted out Romania. I did wonder why it wasn't working when I tested, but forgot to add it when I edited it. @Moto: Even though it was Communist, East Germany wasn't part of the USSR, so West Germany never bordered it. Unless you meant the Soviet Occupation directly after the War?

Pakistan didn't actually border the USSR. That little northern extension of Afghanistan reaches China, therefore preventing Pakistan from bordering Tajikistan or the USSR.

@brezhnev Oops. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have looked more closely at my map.

Interesting how hard it is to think back now. For another source, Britannica lists the bordering countries in it's USSR article: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/614785/Union-of-Soviet-Socialist-Republics

Nice quiz. Interesting that Japan is a bonus. I assume that's because of the sea border? If so, then the United States should be a bonus too, right? And maybe Canada (the sectors of the Arctic claimed by Canada and the USSR met at the North Pole)?

I would guess that Japan was a bonus due to Sakhalin island. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are also bonuses, since they all also bordered the USSR at some point. I was sort of disappointed that Tuva wasn't a bonus, though :(
