| Supporting awards began to be handed out in the late 1960s; before that, the awards were split into Best British Actor and Best Foreign Actor, without regard to lead/supporting categorization. Years are the years for which the awards were given; because of differences in timing between the American and British release of some films, this sometimes results in different years for a film's Oscar and BAFTA eligibility. Finally, I couldn't quite fit in the following nominees: Marcel Mouloudji, We Are All Murderers (1953); James Hayter, Pickwick Papers (1952); Alastair Sim, Folly to be Wise (1952); Nigel Patrick, The Sound Barrier (1952); and Francesco Golisano, Miracle in Milan (1952). |
