Friedel no longer plays for the national team. In a bit of a coincidence there's another American Goalkeeper named Brad who plays for Aston Villa.

Got zero. LOL. Sorry World Cup fans. There are more people in the US following the big story surrounding college football conference realignment, than women's sports.

Good quiz. Even though I can't name all the players I am still rooting for them to beat England.

@Cartophiliac it's comments like that which make USA look like laughing stocks when it comes to FOOTBALL, when in fact they are consistently improving and their league is getting bigger and bigger. I wish you luck against us English later - and hope you qualify along with us in Group C, and I really hope that you guys appreciate it over there like we would over here... it is a sport that unites the whole country here.

@Tho Unfortunately, a World Cup win by the US would probably be nothing more than a one day headline in the newspaper. Doesn't mean I'm not going to be cheering for the US, but virtually every other country would appreciate a victory far more than we would. People still simply do not care about soccer.

I bet Hahnemann would be guessed more often if his name wasn't so difficult to spell. He was one of the first people I tried and couldn't figure out the spelling.

@littlekeed: You're probably right that the US wouldn't care as much as most countries, but not nearly as blatantly as in the past. I vividly remember the USA coming in last in 1998 and nobody caring, but I don't know a man who can watch the game today who will not be. Granted, it's for England and there will be less interest in Algeria or Slovenia, but it's a remarkably bigger deal than in the past.

@Jam1: To an extent, yeah. Most spitefully hope we lose, but it's more of a friendly rivalry for most. Anyway, this quiz is way too US-centric! :D

A few decent players (especially Donovan & Dempsey), but won't get beyond the second round, where Germany will knock them out.

My only chance on this quiz would be to randomly guess last names. I really couldn't care less about soccer(football). Huge fan of American football though.

I guarantee that the average British person would get a higher score than the average American person. Probably double, at least.

You can vote down all you want, but that's true. Most Americans couldn't give a crap about kick-the-ball, er, soccer, er, football. And for good reason: it's a deadly dull sport.

The average English person just might get a higher score than the average American. But when it comes down to it, well, the average English World Cup team won't finish against a superior 'keeper on a (supposedly) inferior American World Cup team. Draw. Could've been worse; your lot deserved another Yorktown today.

I agree with MovieDynamic. No matter how popular the sport is worldwide, the USA/England match was ridiculously hyped, and it ended in a "THRILLING" 1-1 tie. It seems to me that most of the hype is centered around which countries' fans can get rowdier, drunker, and more obnoxious.

Movie Dynamic is consistently wrong about just about everything and this is no different. He/she understands nothing about soccer but feels compelled to not only participate in this quiz, but proudly proclaim his/her ignorance and provincialism. As if anyone was checking the comment section to see what Movie Dynamic thinks about the World Cup or soccer itself.

Someday soon the USA will support this team like it deserves. As for today, the yanks played a hard fought game, got a bit lucky, and we still have a shot at winning the group. I for one can say I'm proud of the team so far.
