| This really needs some more emphasis on jazz. Eric Dolphy, Cannonball Adderley, Grant Green, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and Chet Baker would be obvious inclusions. Hip-hop-wise J Dilla, Ol' Dirty Bastard and Pimp C should definitely be on here. As for indie and otherwise alternative, the last couple of months have been real rough with the deaths of Jay Reatard, Lhasa de Sela, Vic Chesnutt and Mark Linkous. Although obscure, I personally think Yoñlu should be added as well: Beautiful music, combined with an exceptionally tragic tale. |
