I'm pretty sure that people in Michigan prefer "Michigander" to "Michiganian".

The official demonym for someone from Indiana is 'Hoosier'; for a citizen of Massachusetts, it's 'Bay Stater'. http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/2/2-35.htm

I was looking for Arkie (Arkansas), Okie (Oklahoma), Arkie's Inbred Cousin (Alabama), Cajun (Louisiana), Toothless Hillbilly (Kentucky) and couldn't find any of them.

Yes, apparently there is one ethnic group it's acceptable to be prejudiced against.

Surely "Nutmegger" ought to work, as well.

Yes, we call ourselves Michiganders. Michiganian is false.

I have never heard a Michigander refer to him/herself as a Michiganian. I appreciate that you accept the Michagander as an answer, but it should be the only answer. Also I would agree that Hoosier should be available for Indiana and Okie for Oklahoma.

I don't think Massachusettan is right. I have lived here my whole life and have never heard that. The term I am familiar with is "Bay Stater" so you should at least accept that as a possible answer, if not the only answer.

As a native MICHIGANIAN, the term "Michigander" was a derogatory putdown from the 1820's courtesy of our friends in Indiana. Call me a "Michigander" and them there's "fighting words"! :>) Not really, but everybody I know who was born here calls themselves Michiganians. I also thought people from Maine were called "Maniacs". --not really!--

I'm pretty sure I've seen people from Utah called Utahians, although it seems just as horrible as Utahn.

Yeah I've lived in CT all my life and I've been called and seen it spelled Connecticutian, Connecticotian, and Connecticuttian. Even though it's very colonial, Nutmegger is most common, but never Connecticuter. I've seen the word, but all these others come to mind first.

you shouldn't accept answers if they're incorrect. If you consider "Alabamian" the correct answer, don't accept "Alabaman." Don't accept "New Jerseyite" if you think the answer is "New Jerseyan." I think this quiz could benefit with some more research for definitive answers, and only accept those answers. It'll make the quiz appropriately tougher.
