These better-known names include stage names, pen names, monarchical names, titles, Latinizations or translations of original names, and so on. 	Very good quiz with a nice difficulty curve and a diverse and original selection. There are only two minor mistakes: It's Beyle, not Bayle, and you should also accept Akhenaten.

	I think the name Jean-Jacques Dessalines is far better known than the short-lived regnal name "Jacques I."

	Thanks for the responses. I made the suggested changes with regard to Akhenaten and Beyle. I'll think about changing or removing Jacques I. All the people on this list actually are famous, although some of them are more so than others. I was trying for a mix of easier and harder answers.

	I like the mix of answers, but I think it would be better if it were split into a couple of quizes. It's annoying when the whole quiz deosn't fit on the page, and I get tired of doing quizes like this before the time runs out. Turn it into three serven minute quizes and it would be great.

There's also some fun that can be done with British peerages - Viscount St German for Francis Bacon, Earl of Beaconsfield for Benjamin Disraeli, Marquess of Londonderry for Lord Castlereagh, Earl of Avon for Anthony Eden, Earl of Stockton for Harold Macmillan, Earl of Orford for Walpole, Earl of Chatham for Pitt the Elder; or, going the other way, Henry Temple for Palmerston, William Lamb for Melbourne, William Thomson for Lord Kelvin, and so forth.

	Maybe I'm the only one, but the random selector really threw me off on this one. It would be much simpler (especially with looking ahead since it doesn't all fit on one page) if the highlighted bar moved down the list instead of jumping all around. The years are actually useful in some cases, and it took time to find where the name was located on the list. Otherwise, very comprehensive and nice idea.

	The reason I added the random selection is because otherwise the names would all be in alphabetical order, making the quiz easier. Although maybe that would be a good thing. I don't know. I added some of johnik's helpful suggestions.

	If the dates could somehow show up along with the names, that would also be helpful. Maybe the entries should be in chronological order?

	Really good quiz this, such a diverse range. One minor thing: Kaka's full name is usually listed as Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite.

	Great quiz, and really informative after I clicked "Give up"! One small thing: Pope John Paul II's last name is Wojtyla, not Wojytla. It took me a while to figure out why that name looked wrong!

	Awesome quiz. I'd second casuistry's suggestion; if there's a way to have the dates show up along with the names at the top, that'd be great. (Dates do appear in the list, of course, but scrolling down to see them burns too much time.)
