Some of them only require you to state whether it is east, west, north or south of a landmark depicting a geographical border between continents, like a mountain range (hint hint).

Great quiz, good solution to avoid disagreements. You just need to accept Azores and I'm happy.

What about American Samoa? And isn't Guiana spelt Guyana? Also, maybe be clearer on how to enter the names. I tried east ural and west ural, but that didn't work.

How about New Caledonia for France?

American Samoa isn't an integral part of the US, it's a territory. French Guiana is spelt Guiana as opposed to Guyana, https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/region/region_soa.html. New Caledonia is not an integral part of France, its position is debatable but it certainly isn't a department like the other 4.

It's arguable that either Oceania is a continent containing Australasia (Australia as the continental landmass), or that Oceania is an extension of the continent of Australasia. I'll reassign it Australasia/Oceania.

Sorry about the required 'of' in all of the answers. I'll include some answers without it.

St. Pierre and Miquelon for France. They're not totally independent.

The territories of France are not included since they are not integral parts of France. Only specific overseas areas are actually integrated into France, currently there are only four non contiguous departments in France, those named above (excluding Corsica).

Very interesting, I found this when preparing a quiz on the same subject which I will now shelve. I would; however add a few omissions. Most obviously: Panama stradles North & South America. Many of the Greek islands are geographically part of Asia (the North Aegean, and Dodecanese, particulalrly Kastelorizo). The San Andrés and Providencia archipelago which is part of Colombia is in North America. Isla Aves is part of Venezuela and is in North America. Malaysia could be considered to be part of both Asia and Oceania depending on whether the Malay achipelago is deemed to be part of the latter. A number of southerly islands which form parts of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand could be considered to be part of Antarctica. The Netherlands Antilles are definitely located in both North and South America.

St. Pierre et Miquelon is not a territory of France. It IS a part of France. I lived very close to it for most of my life and having visited there numerous times, I can tell you it is France.

You could add http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pe%C3%B1%C3%B3n_de_V%C3%A9lez_de_la_Gomera as another part of Spain in Africa.

Penon de Velez de la Gomera is part of the Plazas menores de soberania, it's an accepted answer, and I just checked in case it wasn't working, but it is, there are no accents on letters. Also, I've abandoned this quiz. It's appalling! So many errors and omissions, not to mention it is out of date!

This quiz could use an update: The Netherlands Antilles disbanded in October 2010. Curacao and Sint-Maarten are now Constituent countries similar to Aruba. Saba Sint-Eustatius and Saba now function as Dutch municipalities governed directly by The Netherlands proper. @british They do not count as integral parts of the UK unlike the places listed here.
