It is a good quiz. The title is awkward though. What is a starting country? I think "No A Per Country Per Letter" would be a better title. Or "No A Per Country Per Starting Letter" if that fits.

How could some people be missing "none"?

Good quiz, aesthetically it'd be nicer if you put commas between each country name. Sounds daft, but...

Yeah, I agree with the commas between each country and remove the 'Example' out of the answer column header, as you list all the answers anyway (and change it to countries). Perhaps make the third column header '# of Countries' or something to make it the same height as the other two column headers. Just aesthetics yup, but good quiz.

I hope any of the people missing the "none" answers would be willing to explain their magic because I'm pretty mystified by that

In an earlier version of the quiz you had to enter an answer for each letter, if you thought that there was no country without an A, you had to enter 'none for Q' (eg)

I'm curious why you changed that (the "enter none"? I think it would make it a harder, better quiz. But good as is, too!

Yikes, a couple more minutes might have helped me, but based on the stats, I'm in the intellectually challenged minority there. Though I DO have to question how the "nones" are below 100%....The second I hit start, they all popped up. How could any percentile be in the 1-5 answer range...? Yet they're there. I say all this only to distract from my sub-par 56th percentile performance.

I would rate this quiz an A, but I think that would be out of character.

@patrickray: If you live in an English-speaking country, the odds are extremely good that your country recognizes Kosovo as an independent nation. Now, can someone explain to me how there is anyone who misses the "none" answers?

My guess is that the 'none' answers were included after the quiz was initially released and so the people who played the quiz before they were added wouldn't be credited with getting them.

@ those wondering how come some people missed the "none" answers: in the archived comments it points out that an early version of the quiz had no third column and made you enter "none" if appropriate.

Managed Republic of the Congo, Montenegro - even Liechtenstein... but when it comes to TOGO, obviously too much of a stretch for my wee brain!

@confused I'm just wondering why "None" is an answer at all. If a letter wasn't on the quiz at all, I would've (correctly) assumed the answer is "None".

I really liked the idea of having the ones with no answers appear automatically. Seemed to make more sense than just not including them. 5 globes.

If 100% of people didn't get the "none" answers, it just means that the quiz creator has probably edited them since making the game live.

I thought of Dijibouti, didn't know it could/is spelt Djibouti as well. I think both spellings should work, both are used and both have no "a" in them. I typed Republic of the Congo but for some reason it was not accepting it???

I don't understand why the letters that don't qualify appear on the quiz. Wouldn't it just have made more sense to leave them off completely...like just about every other similar quiz?

Wondered about United Kingdom and Republic of the Congo, as they seemed like expansions of the "common shorthand name." Overall good quiz, though.

@rockerlizz, technically by your logic then that means Mexico shouldn't be on here either cause the official name of Mexico is the United Mexican States. Plus a couple other countries on here probably have an official name that has an "a" in it. But Sporcle uses just United Kingdom.
