	Nationalities would have not helped me as if I'd sat here all day with the first names, years and where they were born I'd have still got no more than the five I'd heard about (Phelps, Spitz, Lewis, Nurmi, Biondi)!

	thought that might be ok, then phelps spitz and lewis later i find myself knowing nothing, though was slightly happy to find i'd never heard of any of the others.

	I know it's a very hard quiz...that was the point. I didn't just do americans because I know that there are alot of other countries out there and many people from other countries that go on sporcle.

	@jackcos: Um. There are seven Americans, three Germans, two Italians, two Japanese and one each from Belgium, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Only 11/29 are Eastern European.

	I only got Lewis, Phelps, and Spitz, expecting to feel like an idiot over some I missed...but nope. Never heard of any of those guys. Showing my youth, I guess.

	geez, i got stumped on the winter medalists. I'm surprised more people didn't know ewry, one of the very old greats, and latynina(had some spelling issues with that one) who's owon a truckload of medals. 18 if my memory serves me correctly

	Not just did I only get four, but I couldn't have possibly gotten more than six (I missed Nurmi, and for some reason, I've always known about Ray Ewry but forgot him). This is a good quiz, but just too damn hard for pretty much anyone (hence why 94% of people have gotten less than five).

	Sam, I hate you. No, no, no, that's not really true! :-) I just hate it when someone else comes up with a great Sporcle quiz. To the few naysayers here, it wouldn't be any fun if all the quizzes were easy, now would it? This is the most fun AND educational Web site I've come across in quite awhile. 	Hold the phone! Reiner Klimke won his medals in dressage...he rode a real horse, not a pommel horse. I knew there had to be at least one equestrian in there, considering how long their careers are.

	Phelps, Spitz and Lewis? I got 8, those 3 and Nurmi, Latynina, Ewry, Dählie and Nadi. The hardest quiz must be different types of squash.

	I am hooked for everything Olympic so I got 13 right. Couldn't have possibly got more (heard of maybe 2 others) so I'm happy with this result. Odds and Ends: Latynina still leads the all-time list for medal of any color with 18 (9-5-4) followed by Phelps 16 (14-0-2); We all know Phelps took 8 golds in Beijing and 6 in Athens, and Spitz 7 (all with WRs!) in Munich 1972. Next are Otto (the last of the steroid dosed East Germans) with 6 in Seoul '88 (retired right after that), Scherbo with 6 in Barcelona '92 (took some more medals in Atlanta but none gold) and Biondi with 5-1-1 in Seoul; Ewry (1900-08 in now non-existing Standing High/Long/Triple Jump) and Nurmi (1920-28 in long distance runs) lead the career list for decades; All 8 of Jenny Thompson's golds came in relays (she has a couple of bronzes from individual swims).
