There isn't actually a character in Hair named Donna, unless one of the tribe members decides to dub him/herself Donna. But the only scripted female names that I'm aware of (from this recent revival, at least) are Sheila, Crissy, Jeanie, and Dionne, and then Margaret Mead, Aretha Franklin, Buddhalirama, etc). But there is no character named Donna in the literal sense, though the repetition of "my Donna" can be interpreted as Madonna, but that's a whole other can of worms. Likewise, Frank Mills does not appear in the musical. But Sheila Franklin is a song that was included in the revival (written for the original production, but taken out). |
