I think that having multiple noms from the same film hurts the actors chances of winning because they split the vote (face it saving private ryan fans, thin red line gave Best Picture to Shakespeare in Love). Not knowing how the voting rules are, I think if a film has 2 noms you should be able to vote for that film and specify which actor you prefer if that film receives the most votes. Odds are that if your film gets 3 acting nominations in one category you will go home empty handed. Also, Mutiny on the Bounty's record has to be one of the safest Oscar records, because technically getting 3 now would not tie it because there were only 4 nominees plus one write-in back then. |
