	technically, the red sox were an expansion team in 1901 and won the first world series in 1903. they were charter members of the american league but were an expansion team to the mlb. bit of an anomaly there. maybe as a bonus?

	Given that the Ravens assumed a new franchise identity upon Modell moving them to Baltimore, with Cleveland retaining the history of the Browns franchise, perhaps this should be an asterisk or bonus for winning in their fifth year

	@Obama1: The problem is that you could probably say that for a few others as well. The Edmonton Oilers were technically a pro hockey team in 1972 in the WHA (which was a rival league to the NHL). When the WHA became defunct, the Oilers were adopted into the NHL...meaning that technically it was 12 seasons before they won a championship.

	Agree with the Ravens thing. Kind of irritating that you count years played in the WHA but don't count WHA championships.

	You are using two sets of conditions in claiming NFL champions. For 1968, the Jets are listed as the champions when, in fact, they won Super Bowl III; the Colts won that year's NFL championship game. For 1969, however, you list the Vikings as the NFL champions. While they did indeed win the NFL championship game, they lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV. I would suggest removing the Vikings from the list as hardly anyone recognizes them as winning an NFL title. It would be like saying the 1979 Rams were NFL champions for winning the NFC championship game.

	The * by Baltimore Orioles....the key says * denotes team is no longer in existence. What am I missing here?

	The Ravens are not an expansion team, just a relocated team, the new browns are an expansion team. The reason I count years in the WHA is because the team was already formed and had a core of players when they entered the major league, a true expansion team has nothing when they enter the league. If the Ravens were counted, then any team that moved would be counted. The Thunder are not an expansion team and will not be added should they win a championship in the coming years. also @coldheat8-some names are common, that orioles franchise folded shortly after their title, the current orioles began as the Milwaukee Brewers.

	Technically, I think those Orioles moved to New York and became the Yankees.

	@coldheat8: The Baltimore Orioles in question were a National League team in the 19th century. They ceased to exist after the 1899 season when the NL dropped from 12 teams to 8. When the American League became a major league in 1901, it added a franchise in Baltimore, which eventually moved to New York and became the Yankees. The current Orioles were formerly the St. Louis Browns, who took the name in 1954 when they moved to Baltimore. In between, the name was used by a very successful minor league outfit.

	My problem with the inclusion of the Vikings isnt that theyre listed, becuase its technically correct, its that you have the Chiefs listed for the same year. Also, if youre going to include the Vikings, as the NFL recognozes them as 1969 champs, you should include the Ravens for consistency sake, since the NFL recognizes them as an expansion franchise. We can argue (and have on quizzes like this) about the veracity of that position, but its what the NFL records state.

	Boston Bruins are an "Original Six" franchise. How do they count as expansion?

	because the original 6 era lasted from 1942 to 1967. Prior to 1942 there were more teams but contraction due to lack of players because of WW2 left the league with 6 teams until expansion in 1967. On another note, the oilers only started in the NHL in 1979 so their timeframe should be much shorter

The one that won a title is the first one; the second one was in the AL in 1901-02 and was replaced by the Yankees, and the third one is the current one. @creator: The Vikings and Ravens should be bonuses, and you forgot to list the AAFC and AFL as minor leagues".
