	mattymath: Has your neighbours been recognized by the UN as a nation? I really do hope your trolling. You may think whatever you want about whether Palestine should be a country or not, it doesn't change the UNs recognition. I think it's ridiculous that Vatican City should be a country, but that does not change the fact that it is. Politics is often a matter of opinion - geography isn't. Great quiz, by the way!

	Yes, as of today Palestine is being added to all geography quizzes. It's kind of a slow process though, so it may be a while before they're all added in. (This info was all taken from the blog)

	Perhaps I am unclear about the political relationship between the West Bank and Gaza. As of 2007 Hamas and the PLO cut ties, did they not? So, is Abbas still the president of Gaza?

	Spacemaniac, emerald_fusion, and the rest who insist that PAlestine isn't a country: You're living in a dreamworld. Palestine is recognized by over 130 nations, has recently been granted observer status by the United Nations, and is functioning as an independent (if occupied) state comprising over four million people. The United States doesn't recognize the nation, but they don't recognize Taiwan either and few people seem to have a problem calling the latter a country. Israel doesn't either, but I doubt anyone will accuse them of being unbiased on the issue. Palestine has observer status in the UN, not general membership, but the same is true of Vatican City and we don't see anyone on Sporcle grousing about the latter's inclusion on geography quizzes. By the definitions employed here (and almost everywhere else) of what a country is, Palestine qualifies; you wishing the world were otherwise doesn't make it so. Welcome to Sporcle, Palestine!

	@spacemaniac we're not talking about oneself's standards, we are talking about global standards, so Palestine may be (or may not) a internationally accepted country one day. This is like if a Serbian said that Kosovo will never be a country for him, it's not a global standard, it's just something political.

	Fact- Palestine has NOT been recognized as a country. It was given non-member observer status by the UN. Not the same as being recognized as a state. Fact- Gaza is in Gaza which is run by Hamas. The West bank is run by the Palestinian Authority. These two have been arguing ever since Gaza split from the West Bank and will probably not agree to unify anytime soon. Regardless of one's personal opinions about whether it should or should not be a country- the fact is that is hasn't yet been recognized as such. Just saying.

	Tried "4 million" and it wasn't accepted. Can that be changed? When it said it accepted the nearest million, I assumed I didn't need to type all the digits out and just went with the numeral and the word.

	Natania: Your first "fact" is patently wrong. A majority of the world's nations recognize the statehood of Palestine. So does the UN: they make a distinction between state and non-state observers; there are many of the latter but only two (Palestine and Vatican) of the former. In theory, the "observer" status is granted because the state, though it is a nation, has not demonstrated that it is able to meet the obligations of the UN Charter, which is very different from whether it is a nation at all. (In reality, it just means the US would block any effort to grant Palestine general membership, as that requires a Security Council vote while observer status requires only a vote of the General Assembly.) As for the second fact: So what? Internal conflict does not mean a nation cannot be recognized as such. (Do you protest the inclusion of Somalia in country quizzes?)
