	Is Settlers of Catan a good game? I've been wanting to check it out, but it's a lot of money to drop on it.

	@Pogues: Depends on your taste in games. It's a popular strategy game (generally 4 players, but can be played with 3) that doesn't require too much thinking. Playing time typically 1-1.5 hours. There are free versions online you can try out to see if you like it.

	Actually I would recommend playing Settlers with 3 over 4 (although generally the question is more from the other side). Nice selection of games since it's not only olden favorites but also newer European (or German) style boardgames, which unfortunately often get overlooked. @everyone: try Blokus, Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan if you do not know them yet. In my opinion a way more strategic and fun kind of playing than e.g. Monopoly or Risk.

	For fun the fifth one from the end should have been LUDO(CE), since the game usually appears as "Clue(do)" on most Sporcle quizzes featuring it. @Pogues: Settlers of Catan is one of the best games I've ever played -- very well designed, balanced strategy, makes you think, but not so complicated that you need a Ph.D. in game-ology to figure it out. Definitely worth the simoleons.

	There are several that aren't board games, but that's okay. Never heard of Blokus, though.

	@Pogues Here are some of the elements of the Catan game: dice rolling (production), developing your empire, negotiation. The three elements that I think made it trigger the Euro-gaming revolution: 1) modular board w/ random set up, so you might never see the same configuration twice, 2) no matter whose turn it is anyone could be involved with what's going on, 3) wraps in 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

	I have never seen it referred to as cluedo, maybe because I'm Canadian. Settlers of Catan is a terrific game, would also recommend 'alhambra' to anyone.
