2 More Days until Opening Day

Friday, March 30th, 2007

If you want full points for predicting this years baseball champs, you’ve got 2 more days to get your picks in. Here’s some more pundit predictions to help you make up your mind.

ESPN Radio: Mac, Jurko and Harry from ESPN AM 1000 radio in Chicago lay out their picks. I guess it comes as no surprise that one of them picked the Cubs to win it all. What’s it been now, like, 99 years or something?

Yahoo Sports: Jeff Passan and Tim Brown map out a number of predictions for the 2007 season, which amounts to another AL victor sweep, this time being the D-Mats fueled Red Sox and the 2006 also-rans Detroit Tigers coming out on top.

Baseball Prospectus: If you’re a paying customer to one of the better number crunching online baseball sites out there (I’m not, hint hint), you might be interested in this Top 30 list of the MLB teams, ordered based on runs scored and allowed per team. A novel approach, and Baseball Prospectus often gets this stuff right.

Found some more preseason prediction information

Salon: King Kaufman has wrapped up his 2007 picks, the meat of which has the 9 time AL East winning Yankees missing the playoffs, and Detroit coming from the Wild Card spot to win the whole darn thing. Bold move, King, bold move.

ESPN: The super trio of Peter Gammons, Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick predict out the winners on a special roundtable discussion.

Sports Illustrated: While not a full prediction, there’s some good info here about both who NOT to pick, as well as making the case for an all LA World Series

DocSports.com: If you prefer an angle more from a bookies perspective, check out the Doc, who is going with the safe picks, NY and the California teams.

Tomorrow, being friday and the end of the week, is sure to have some more columnists weighing in with their preseason picks.
